'The Short King!' NFL 'Messed Up' on Cowboys Deuce Vaughn Move
It appears that the NFL world is now realizing something that the Dallas Cowboys knew about Deuce Vaughn when they drafted him ... he is a potential nightmare on the football field. A little nightmare. But a nightmare nevertheless.
While much was made of the emotion that came with Vaughn's selection as his father Chris works for the Cowboys, now, after Deuce's efforts against the Jacksonville Jaguars, many are seeing his talent.
After Vaughn's eight rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown that included a vicious juke that saw three Jaguars defenders completely whiff on tackling him, NFL reporter Kay Adams thinks the league has made a grave mistake in letting Vaughn slip to the Cowboys.
“I think we’re under-reacting to the impact he can have in Dallas this season,” Adams said on The Up & Adams Show. “The juking through three defenders ... It was ridiculous. I do think we are overlooking the fact that this is nothing new to him. This is what he did repeatedly through his two All-American seasons at Kansas State.
“I know he’s got the, ‘I’m short, let’s not pay attention.’ I don’t care, he’s a short king. The league messed up by letting the Cowboys [get] him, I’m telling you. Y’all gone and messed up."
Deuce has impressed during training camp and now in real NFL action. After some thought he would be battling for the No. 3 running back role, his performance on Saturday night has some thinking that he could be Tony Pollard's backup to start the season. ... a trend to watch for as Dallas plays preseason Game 2 at Seattle on Saturday night.
While some were screaming "nepotism'' after his selection during the draft, they're now seeing that not only is Deuce a good football player, but he is also shooting up - not in height, for he is "the short king!'' - but rather, shooting up the depth chart at an astonishing rate.
