Cowboys Mock Draft Roundup: Where is Dallas Trending at No. 26?
The Dallas Cowboys are slated to have the 26th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday. Here's an updated look at what experts believe Jerry Jones and company will do with their first-round pick.
Danny Kelly of The Ringer: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
Kelly says that "Mayer has a little Jason Witten to his game." Witten is the franchise's career leader with 12,977 receiving yards, even more than Michael Irvin, Tony Hill or Drew Pearson. Drafting a player with similar qualities would be a pretty easy sell to Cowboys fans.
Jaime Eisner of The Draft Network: Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
Eisner reports that he's heard that Dallas is "very interested" in Forbes, a 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback. The 22-year-old was a consensus All-American at Mississippi State in 2022, recording 46 total tackles, 10 pass deflections
Charles Davis of NFL Media: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
Mayer is 6-foot-4, 249 pounds and had 67 catches for 809 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season at Notre Dame. With the loss of Dalton Schultz in free agency, tight end is a major need for Mike McCarthy's offense.
Pro Football Focus Staff: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
PFF also sees the Cowboys going with a tight end, but even with Mayer still on the board, they go with Kincaid. At 6-foot-4 , 242 pounds, Kincaid has a similar build to Mayer. He had 70 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns in his final season at Utah.
