Cowboys 'Expected' to Pick Interior O-Live Early? O'Cyrus Torrence vs. Steve Avila
The Dallas Cowboys have been no strangers to drafting offensive lineman over recent years.
A 2022 case is first-round pick Tyler Smith, who was originally drafted to become the offensive guard of the future. However, an injury to veteran left tackle Tyron Smith saw the No. 24 pick play a majority of his rookie snaps season on the outside.
Smith did not disappoint in his inaugural NFL season, playing 99% of possible snaps for the Cowboys en route to earning All-Rookie team honors.
Despite the 22-year-old's promise and versatility on the line, Dallas could be enticed to spend another day one or two selection on an offensive lineman - even after signing tackle Chuma Edoga in free agency.
"There's a pretty big hole at left guard now that Connor McGovern has signed in Buffalo," Fox Sports writes. "The early indication is that the Cowboys don't want to move Tyler Smith back to guard, which is understandable given how well the first-round pick played at left tackle as a rookie."
"It's pretty easy to make the case that (left guard is) the weakest spot on the roster."
One offensive guard that has been linked to Dallas with the No. 26 spot? Florida offensive guard O'Cyrus Torrence. Another is TCU's Steve Avila, who is definitely on Dallas' list.
Fox writes, "Expect the Cowboys to draft an interior offensive lineman with one of their first four picks." To us, that seems like a good bet. So yes, in a top-heavy offensive linemen class, if an opportunity presents itself, expect Dallas to pounce in the early going of the draft.
