Ezekiel Elliott Next Team: Should Cowboys Ex Sign Contract Offer from Jets, Bengals or ... Eagles?!
FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys former running back Ezekiel Elliott was a staple in Dallas for seven seasons before being released in what can properly be described as a salary cap casualty.
And now, Elliott claims he's got options.
Per a report from Adam Schefter, Elliott has narrowed his options to the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and Cincinnati Bengals. And he will reportedly make a decision by the end of next week.
Although some say Elliott's best years are behind him, he's listed by Pro Football Focus as one of the league's top free-agent running backs available.
With all of those teams expected to be playoff contenders next season - especially assuming Aaron Rodgers joins the Jets - Elliott could find himself as a contributor on a good team once again.
And if he joins the Eagles, he'll see the Cowboys at least twice next season and possibly in the playoffs.
The release of Elliott from the Cowboys was an emotional one, as owner Jerry Jones penned a heart-wrenching goodbye and Dallas lost a major piece of their locker room culture - not to mention quarterback Dak Prescott's best friend on the team.
Elliott, 27, still has yards to gain in the NFL.
Since 2016 he has 30 100-yard games. Only Tennessee's Derek Henry has more (34), and he ends his Cowboys career with a rushing touchdown in nine consecutive games.
