Cowboys 'F****** Right!' About Deuce Vaughn, Yells Dak Prescott

Little Deuce Vaughn made his presence felt early as he competes for the No. 2 job behind Pro Bowl runner Tony Pollard. ... with Dak Prescott excited about what the rookie is bringing, even in a preseason loss.

ARLINGTON, Texas - How open are the Dallas Cowboys about their belief in sixth-round rookie Deuce Vaughn? On Saturday, star quarterback Dak Prescott accidentally cussed into a live microphone to express his enthusiasm about the diminutive running back.

"F****** right!'' Dak barked after Vaughn scored a touchdown in what would be a 28-23 preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the preseason opener here at AT&T Stadium.

Vaughn made his presence felt early as he competes for the No. 2 job behind Pro Bowl runner Tony Pollard. He exploded for a 26-yard gain in the third quarter. ... and then capped that drive with a four-yard TD run.

Vaughn - just 5-5 and 175 pounds - ended up with eight carries for 50 yards, plus a trio of receptions, and put on display the Dallas belief that he's something more than a gimmick, something more than the son of a Cowboys scout.

Malik Davis was given the start and finished with 23 yards on eight carries. Rico Dowdle had a 21-yard catch-and-run but then he fumbled near the goal line. UDFA rookie Hunter Luepke got to play as well ....

But then there was Vaughn, who has talked of going "to war'' in pursuit of of a spot on Dallas' 53-man roster after cutdown day on Aug. 28. As CowboysSI.com has reported from the start, the Cowboys were never going to cut him. Maybe they were going to stash him. But right now?

Does it look like maybe they should play him? F-in right it does.
