Cowboys Finalize 16-Man Practice Squad; Who'll Move Up?

The Dallas Cowboys have for now completed their shopping by assembling their 16-man practice squad, which includes a pair of newcomer linemen.

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys went shopping on Wednesday, one day after having to cut the roster to 53, working to build a practice squad that is made up in part by in-house prospects, in part by eventual "varsity'' guys and in part by vet newcomers from elsewhere.

Here is the 16-man list, on offense: RB Malik Davis, WR Jalen Cropper, WR Tyron Johnson, TE Princeton Fant, TE Sean McKeon, OT Earl Bostick, OT Alex Taylor-Prioleau, C Brock Hoffman and C/G Sean Harlow.

And on defense: DT Willington Previlon, DE Durrell Johnson, DE Tyrus Wheat, LB Malik Jefferson, CB Josh Butler, CB C.J. Goodwin and DB Sheldrick Redwine.

First to the newcomers, starting with center/guard Sean Harlow, who comes over from the Giants and can help back up starter Tyler Biadasz. Harlow is 6-4, 284 and has been in the NFL - mostly as a practice-squadder - since being drafted in the fourth round by the Falcons in 2017. He's 28 and has eight career starts.

Willington Previlon, 26, is 6-5 and 295 and was last with Tampa Bay after coming into the league as a Packers UDFA. was the latest add to the bunch, maybe taking the spot Dallas was hoping Jabril Cox (who signed with Washington) would accept.

Next come the "varsity'' guys. Back are tight end Sean McKeon, special-teams ace C.J. Goodwin, offensive lineman Brock Hoffman and running back Malik Davis. Goodwin is a lock to be called up for game days. McKeon figures that way as well as a fourth tight end.

Additionally come the prospects: Fant, Cropper, wide receiver Tyron Johnson, Bostic Jr., Taylor-Prioleau, Jefferson, Redwine, Wheat, Durrell Johnson and Butler.

In addition to Cox, receiver Dennis Houston and quarterback Will Grier were wanted back. But Houston moves to the with the New York Giants and Grier to the Cincinnati Bengals, where it appears he's the third QB; he would've been fourth in Dallas behind Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush and Trey Lance, with little chance of moving up.

The Cowboys were also hopeful of keeping edge Isaiah Land, but the Indianapolis Colts claimed the UDFA rookie.

Dallas on Wednesday also made the predicted shuffles on the 53-man roster with cornerback Nahshon Wright (ankle) and tackle Matt Waletzko (shoulder) moving to short-term IR, as offensive tackle Chuma Edoga and long-snapper Trent Sieg were re-signed to fill those spots.
