Cowboys Hiring Bill Belichick Heavy Favorite for Oddmakers After Sad Playoff Loss To Packers

The Dallas Cowboys became the first team in league history to "achieve" a dubious feat after another playoff disappointment.

Another year, another playoff failure for the Dallas Cowboys.

America's Team has had more than its fair share of postseason heartbreak, but Sunday's 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers may top them all. The Cowboys came into the game as the No. 2 seed in the NFC, favored by more than a touchdown and playing in AT&T Stadium, where they hadn't lost since Week 1 of the 2022 season.

Despite everything going for them, they were never competitive as the Packers jumped out to a 27-0 lead before essentially going on cruise control.

As if all that wasn't enough, the Cowboys lost to the Packers, the team that has consistently tortured them by winning 10 of the past 11 meetings, including three in the playoffs now.

After the latest playoff disappointment, the Cowboys have now cemented themselves in a very undesirable piece of NFL history. According to ESPN, Dallas is the first team ever to win 12 games in three consecutive seasons and not make the conference championship game even once.

This is an extension of the stat that Cowboys detractors throw around the most, that being that they have not made the NFC Championship Game since their last Super Bowl win in the 1995 season. After Sunday's game, though, it's even more difficult to defend Dallas' lack of postseason success.

Worst Playoff Loss Ever? Cowboys' Season Ends

The Cowboys have usually been one of the more talented teams in the NFL, and they post regular seasons on a regular basis. However, the playoff failure has been a constant across multiple coaching staffs, and this latest one may have cost coach Mike McCarthy his job.

Which brings us to ...

What do the oddsmakers say about the next coach of your Cowboys?

Next Cowboys Head Coach (If Not Mike McCarthy)

Bill Belichick 1/2

Mike Vrabel 3/1

Bobby Slowik 7/1

Dan Quinn 8/1

Jim Harbaugh 8/1

Ben Johnson 9/1

Kellen Moore 12/1

Pete Carroll 14/1

Mike MacDonald 20/1

Todd Monken 20/1

Aaron Glenn 33/1

Antonio Pierce 33/1

Brian Callahan 33/1

Deion Sanders 33/1

Some of those names are silly. Belichick? He doesn't have a "silly'' bone in his professional body.

As the Cowboys continue to search for answers in the postseason, the dark cloud of this dubious feat will continue to hang over them.
