Cowboys Icon Irvin On Playing The Lottery - And In The Strip Clubs

The subject was the lottery. But Michael Irvin, the Dallas Cowboys icon and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer, turned the conversation into ... strip-clubbing

FRISCO - Michael Irvin has lead a ... colorful life. He's astoundingly frank about it, and entertaining, too, when it comes to storytime - as it did this week on 105.3 The Fan.

The subject was the lottery. But Irvin, the Dallas Cowboys icon and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer, turned the conversation into something quite different.

"Let me tell you my philosophy on this,'' Irvin said when "Shan & RJ'' asked if he buys tickets for Powerball or the Mega Millions jackpot. "I swear, I'm so stupid. I'm just so stupid.

"So, I walk into the store, right? It pays $400 or $500 million, right? And I'm like, 'Should I play it?''

"And my mind goes to, 'Dude, how many times did you wander into one of those places (strip clubs)?' So, if I can put $20 on her to stand right there, I can put $20 on (a chance to win) $500 million."

Friday's Mega Millions jackpot now stands at $970 million after nobody won on Tuesday. But a lucky person in Maryland matched all six numbers in Wednesday's drawing to win the $731.1 million prize in Powerball.

Irvin has been "lucky'' in many ways, of course. And he told the fellas that he consulted with "Bishop'' (that would be T.D. Jakes) about the morality of playing ... no, not in the strip clubs. In the lottery.

Irvin said Jakes gave him the go-ahead but added, "Michael, if you win, don't forget to tithe.''
