Cowboys Injury Update: Free Agent Stephon Gilmore Leads Trio Needing Surgery
LAS VEGAS - A trio of Dallas Cowboys enter the offseason a bit battered and are undergoing surgery as they ready to give it another go in 2024.
Three Cowboys players underwent surgery shortly after the season ended with that ugly playoff loss to Gren Bay: Cornerback Stephon Gilmore, tight end Peyton Hendershot and offensive lineman T.J. Bass. ... and Gilmore is the headliner for a couple of reasons.
As first noted by ESPN, Hendershot and Bass are expected to be ready to participate fully in the offseason program at The Star, the same cannot be said for Gilmore, who is facing a four- to six-month recovery before he can return, hopefully in time for training camp.
Additionally, while Hendershot and Bass are under contract, Gilmore - who will be 34 in September - is entering free agency. And while he was a starter in Dallas in his one year here since the smart trade that brought him to the Cowboys from the Colts a year ago, the age and the injury put his future here in some doubt.

Gilmore's surgery was on his shouder, an injury he valiantly played through in the Green Bay game. Hendershot (ankle) and Bass (elbow) are both young backups but do figure into Dallas' future plans.
