WATCH: Dak to Jake Ferguson Gives Cowboys Lead vs. Jets

The Dallas Cowboys got off to a great start against the New York Jets, as quarterback Dak Prescott found Jake Ferguson for an early score.

The Dallas Cowboys are off to a hot start against the New York Jets in their home opener this season. After winning the coin toss and electing to receive the ball first, quarterback Dak Prescott and play-caller Mike McCarthy engineered a great opening drive.

On third and goal with the ball on the Jets' four-yard-line, Prescott found tight end Jake Ferguson for the game-opening score.

The touchdown pass to Ferguson capped off a 12-play, 75-yard drive for the Cowboys, which started with a heavy focus on the run game. Going up against one of the league's best defensive lines, featuring standout defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, McCarthy called six run plays, as running back Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle combined for 19 yards on six carries.

Although the most consequential run proved to come from Prescott as with the Cowboys already deep in New York's territory facing a third-down-and-six, he stepped up in a crowded pocket and scrambled 15 yards for a first down.

After a strong opening drive, the Cowboys defense followed the example set by the offense, forcing a quick three-and-out. After defensive end Demarcus Lawrence blew up a Breece Hall run for a loss of four on first down, a Micah Parsons sack on third down would force a punt.
