Jonesin': DeMarcus Ware Chooses Cowboys Owner as Hall-of-Fame Presenter - WATCH
Jerry Jones had the honor of informing DeMarcus Ware in January that he was joining him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. And on Thursday, Jones was asked by Ware to present him at the induction ceremony in August.
“You were the voice that welcomed me to the Hall of Fame,” Ware said. “I want for you, that voice, to keep going and you be my presenter this year.”
Jones has had the honor of presenting three of his previous players - Michael Irvin, Larry Allen and Emmitt Smith - and former Cowboys' GM Gil Brandt into the Hall of Fame. He will experience the honor for a fifth time.
“I just can’t tell you what an honor it is,” Jones said. “I mean, it’s really because it’s you, but it means more to me than me being in the Hall of Fame, because I know what you’re a part of and that’s how I got into the Hall of Fame — just standing and rubbing up with you.”
Ware was the No. 11 overall pick of the Cowboys in the 2005 NFL Draft and made All-Pro in eight of his nine seasons. He later joined the Denver Broncos, where he won Super Bowl XL. The elite pass-rusher registered 138.5 sacks and made the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
Jones entered the Hall of Fame in 2017 as owner, president, and general manager of the Cowboys. Al Davis owns the all-time record for most presentations, getting the honor nine times during his lifetime.
