Cowboys' Johnathan Hankins Could Sign with Seahawks? Free Agency 'News Coming'
The Dallas Cowboys have already lost a few key players on defense this offseason, and another one may soon be on his way out as well.
According to ESPN's Brady Henderson, Cowboys defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins is drawing interest from the Seattle Seahawks in free agency.
And Hankins himself on Saturday said on social media, "Free Agency news coming soon ...''
Hankins, who turns 32 at the end of the month, has been a key piece of the Cowboys' defense since his arrival in 2022. Last season, the veteran defensive tackle started all 14 games he appeared in while recording 27 total tackles, two tackles for loss and three sacks.
An NFL veteran of more than a decade, Hankins has been a consistent force for several teams. Before coming to Dallas, he previously played for the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders traded him to the Cowboys for a late-round pick swap at the 2022 trade deadline.
CowboysSI.com has been told that Dallas would like to re-sign him. But in addition to the money involved, the chance to get a multi-year deal elsewhere - which the Cowboys do not seem inclined to offer - could be a lure.
Hankins has signed one-year deals in each of the last three offseason, with the last two of said deals coming in at around $1.3 million. If the Seahawks can get him for a similar value, it should be a bargain for them.

Meanwhile, Hankins could join a growing list of Cowboys defenders to leave this offseason. Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler both joined Dan Quinn and the rival Washington Commanders, while Neville Gallimore signed with the Miami Dolphins.
