Cowboys Ex Jon Kitna's Son Hears Child Pornography Court Ruling

"I want to start off by apologizing to my family, my friends, and those who care about me," says Jalen Kitna as the son of the former Cowboys QB and coach hears his child pornography case ruled upon.

FRISCO - Former University of Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna, son of retired NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, has reached a plea deal that will result in the dismissal of five felony child pornography charges stemming from his November arrest.

Kitna, 20, who played football for his father at Burleson (Texas) High School, pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct, which are second-degree misdemeanors. The Florida court placed Kitna on six months' probation for each count without imposing a fine.

Kitna, who will not be required to register as a sex offender, was accompanied by his parents as he demonstrated remorse as he read a statement during the court proceedings.

"I want to start off by apologizing to my family, my friends, and those who care about me," Kitna said. "Their support throughout this whole ordeal has meant a lot to me. The most challenging aspect of this process has been witnessing how it has affected them. I have learned valuable lessons from this experience, and I am eager to apply them and move forward."

Jon Kitna, 50, played for 17 seasons in the NFL, including two stints as the Dallas Cowboys backup QB to Tony Romo. He also coached for a time with the Cowboys before settling in as a successful high school coach, for a time in Texas and now in Ohio.

The Gainesville Police Department arrested Kitna in November of 2022 on five felony child pornography charges, including distribution and possession of child exploitation material. According to the police report, Kitna shared images of young girls being sexually abused through a social media platform. Officers also discovered more illicit images on his phone.

Following his arrest, Florida banned him from the football team. ... and now his attorney is talking about Kitna "moving on.''

"What we have here today is a fair and just result,'' said lawyer Ron Kozlowski. "The state agrees with it, and we feel good about that. This will give Jalen the opportunity to move on to the next step, whatever that may be.''
