Will Grier Leads Cowboys Over Raiders in Strong First Half

The Dallas Cowboys head into halftime of their preseason finale with a 21-13 lead over the Las Vegas Raiders ... and then Will Grier tacks on another TD.

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to close the preseason on a high note after two straight losses, and through one half, they're in good position to do so.

Heading into the locker room, the Cowboys lead the Las Vegas Raiders 21-13 after a strong offensive showing.

Playing in his final game for Dallas, quarterback Will Grier is ending his Cowboys tenure with a bang. Grier - who is about to be replaced by the traded-for Trey Lance - has looked sharp and composed in the pocket, completing 18 of 23 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. He also has four rushes for a team-high 49 yards and a touchdown, which came on a bootleg rollout reminiscent of those by Cowboys' starter Dak Prescott, who is calling plays in this game.

Grier did it again in the third quarter, running for another score to put Dallas up, 2816.

Another Cowboy who has impressed is undrafted rookie running back Hunter Luepke. The North Dakota State product has carried the load on the ground, rushing nine times for 35 yards. Where he has impressed most, though, is as a receiver, as he leads the team with four receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Rookie tight end Luke Schoonmaker has the Cowboys' other receiving touchdown, connecting with Grier from nine yards out.

While no particular player has stood out on the other side of the ball, Dallas' defense turned in a strong first-half performance as well. The Cowboys has allowed just 118 total yards and six first downs, and with the offense holding the ball for nearly 20 minutes, they haven't let the Raiders get many chances.

For Las Vegas, rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell has completed 10 of 16 passes for 106 yards. Running back Damien Williams has a team-high 36 yards on just three carries, including a 24-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Receiver Kristian Wilkerson leads the team in receiving yards with 71 on six catches.
