Dallas Cowboys Leaders Dak Prescott & Micah Parsons: Ready for 'Winter Heat'?

The Dallas Cowboys are fresh off the bye, and Micah Parsons is ready to hunt - starting with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.

With the Cowboys sitting at 4-2 after six games, the need to consolidate their position in the division and the NFC is paramount, considering the upcoming "softer" schedule.

And how high a value does Micah Parsons put on getting out of the gate fast post-bye?

"It's extremely important, especially now that we're heading into November," Parsons said. "This is when it really starts to pick up — the heat of the schedule, the strength of the schedule. It's important that we rally and really come together and face the injuries, and adversity that we faced early on."

Micah is right. The Cowboys did face their fair share of adversity in the early part of the season. But now, after their bye week and the "across the hall" visits, Dallas needs to press on.

Following Sunday's game against the Rams, the Cowboys will play the tough Eagles, but then a trio of have-nots in the Giants, Panthers and Commanders before a brutal five-game stretch that could decide their season.

Part of Dallas' adversity in the early part of the season was the offense's struggle to be consistent.

Against the Los Angeles Chargers, in a 20-17 win, it was quarterback Dak Prescott who lifted the team with his ability to scramble and make plays. That, in turn, led to Dallas making plays at critical times, which is ultimately what led them to escape SoFi Stadium with a valuable win.

Does Prescott see a need to use his legs more moving forward?

"It's not something you want to live in because that means something — the initial play or the gameplan, isn't working," Prescott said. "But when those plays present themselves, you've got to take advantage of it."

With the Rams' defense giving up 130+ rushing yards four times in seven games, there is a potential weakness for Prescott and his legs to exploit.

If the Cowboys add Dak's legs as a weapon in the "Texas Coast Offense," as part of playing the complementary football coach Mike McCarthy preaches, then Dallas going on an "important" run post-bye could start with a win against the Rams at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. ... and it will increase their chances to endure the "heat'' that is coming in winter.
