Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Fires Back at NBA Fandom Critics
The NFL is in its offseason, allowing players such as Dallas Cowboy Micah Parsons to support fellow athletes during the NBA playoffs. However, it's become hard to track which team Parsons is a fan of.
As recently as May 7, Parsons [a Pennsylvania native] could be found sporting a Philadelphia 76ers No. 0 Tyrese Maxey jersey.
The gesture was criticized by Cowboys Nation due to Philadelphia also being the host city of Dallas' rival Eagles, but defended by Parsons in a tweet that said, "Maxey from Texas lol!!"
Despite the heat that the Cowboys star took for representing a team besides the Dallas Mavericks, he's continued to represent other NBA teams and this time exchanged his 76ers jersey for a Boston Celtics one ... the team that just beat Philly last series.
On Wednesday night, Parsons could be found courtside at the Boston Garden wearing a Jayson Tatum jersey.
Parsons mocked the fans who claimed his Maxey jersey signaled he'd be joining the Eagles by Tweeting a photo of him in the Celtics jersey with the caption, "Let me guess I want to be a patriot also? Lol."
Sports fans continued to troll the Cowboys defender, with some comparing his affinity for flipping teams (he's apparently also a Warriors fan) to that of Los Angeles Lakers captain LeBron James.
All jokes aside, Dallas' front office should hope that Parsons is more loyal to the Cowboys franchise than he is with his NBA fandom as he continues to play out his rookie contract.
Next season, Micah, the ... leaguewide NBA fan, will lead Dallas as the Cowboys look to take back the NFC West from their rivals in Philadelphia. And when he changes jerseys? It’ll be from Cowboys white to Cowboys blue.
