Cowboys Micah Parsons 'A No. 1 Problem!' Says Pro Bowl Lineman
Former first-round pick offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs has some high praise for Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons. ... citing his speed and concluding, "He's a problem.''
Wirfs is a two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and won a Super Bowl alongside arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady. As a young star, Wirfs listed his toughest pass-rush matchups when he appeared on the Vikes Verified podcast, and that list included Parsons.
Though there were no numerical rankings, and Wirfs was spitballing the toughest pass-rushers in the league, he mentioned Parsons is "probably one or two."
In a list that also includes Von Miller, Cam Jordan, Myles Garrett and Khalil Mack, Parsons being listed as top-two is high praise.
Parsons most recent game against the Buccaneers was last season during the season opener. He totaled seven tackles and two sacks in the matchup.
The 24-year-old "Lion-backer'' has played just two seasons the NFL so far, but he's shown why he's a rising star. With 13 sacks his rookie season and 13.5 sacks this past season, there's a reason Parsons is roped together with the top-tier pass-rushers. Also, the two Pro Bowl appearances speak for themselves.
The two rising stars will be able to continue battling things out in their career, but they're not scheduled to match up in the upcoming season. Barring a playoff matchup, which seems unlikely, the two will have to wait at least one season before they see each other again.
"He's fast as a mug, dude," Wirfs said of Parsons. "He's a problem."
Through two seasons in his career, Parsons has 49 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 56 quarterback hits.
It's no secret Parsons is, and has been, this good early in his career. Ahead of his second season, he said he wants to be "the best player in the league."
With that mindset, the versatile Micah - a Defensive Player of the Year candidate for certain - will be able to continue pushing to be one of the best defenders in the NFL as he heads into his third season.
