Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Reveals ‘Heart’ of Contract Plan as Bosa Signs ‘Monster’ Deal

A ‘monster’ Cowboys contract for Micah Parsons is not just about the payday, he insists. “It’s the heart and the significance behind the money,” Parsons says.

FRISCO - The San Francisco 49ers and defensive end Nick Bosa on Thursday ended his contract holdout as they agreed to a five-year, $170 million extension with a $122.5 million guarantee, as noted by ESPN.

And what does this have to do with the Dallas Cowboys? That $34 million APY number makes Bosa the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. ….

And it just happens to be $1 million under what CowboysSI.com has projected as the eventual new APY number for Micah Parsons, eligible for his new deal after the 2023 season.

And yeah, Micah is aware of his surroundings, while saying on Thursday that his situation - which figures to make him the new highest-paid defender in NFL history - is not just about the pay day.

“It’s the heart and the significance behind the money,” Parsons said, with the Dallas News accurately suggesting that the Cowboys acknowledge this is about to be a “monster” contract … and one that by nature of the way these things work for the NFL’s biggest stars in monster that leapfrogs what Nick Bosa just got.

Bosa was last year, the league’s defensive player of the year. For the second straight season, Parsons - who has only been in the league for two years - finished second in that voting.

Micah now has his eyes on any number of prizes. Team goals. Individual goals. And a contract that figures to reward him for his “significance” as well.

Said Micah: “I’m super happy for Nick Bosa. He really showed why he was the best player in the league last year, and it gives you something to chase. Not in terms of his contract but in terms of how great he was if you study his mindset, how patient he was.”
