'Everyone Knows What December Brings!' Cowboys Coach McCarthy On Playoff Push

The Dallas Cowboys face a brutal December schedule and after doing away with the Philadelphia Eagles, a different challenge in the Buffalo Bills awaits.

The Dallas Cowboys have begun their "gauntlet" of games in winning fashion after beating the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles in consecutive weeks.

With the Cowboys now leading the division (albeit briefly), attention now turns to the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium. Given how Dallas' season has gone thus far sitting at 10-3, should Mike McCarthy's team win, then they will punch their ticket to the postseason.

With so much on the line in the conference and the division, McCarthy says the importance of December football isn't lost on his playing group.

“I think everybody clearly understands you know what December brings as far as the urgency,” McCarthy said. “We understand what Buffalo's record is but most importantly, we're playing up there you know there's potential rain in the forecast and so you know we'll do the wet ball drills and those types of things. So, I think it's your energy and your focus is better served on what's in front of you.”

What is in front of Dallas is a Bills team that has found its mojo and has won two of their last three games. Buffalo will be a difficult opponent for the high-flying Cowboys, not only because under interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Josh Allen looks like "Josh Allen" again, but what the weather could be like in Buffalo at game time.

At this time of year, snowfall is often taken into consideration in Buffalo and the Cowboys aren't well-versed in battling the elements in the cozy confines of AT&T Stadium.

But what does McCarthy see as Dallas' biggest challenges when it comes to the weather on Sunday?

“The elements, just through experience you know some change more than others," McCarthy said. "You know, wind and rain are to me the biggest challenges.”

The Cowboys have been doing wet ball drills this week in an attempt to get familiar with what kind of weather many expect come Sunday.

Dallas has gotten its December gauntlet off to a good start, but this game against Buffalo feels different and could have a large bearing on how McCcarthy's team is viewed in the Super Bowl conversion.

There are a lot of scenarios facing the Cowboys this week, but by focusing on what's in front of them and taking care of business on Sunday, Dallas could consolidate its playoff spot, while ending Buffalo's in the process.
