Cowboys Nation Reacts: Eagles Trade Up for Jalen Carter in NFL Draft
KANSAS CITY - All the Dallas Cowboys could do was sit and watch as their NFC East division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, made a big early move on Thursday here in Kansas City, trading up to the No. 9 pick in the NFL Draft to select defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
The Georgia standout is yet another potential disruptor for the Eagles defensive line that drafted Carter's former Bulldog teammate Jordan Davis a year ago. Seeing Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman move up to draft another highly-touted prospect that was dropping down the board might be bad news for Cowboys Nation.
Carter's fall down the board from potentially being the No. 1 overall pick was due off-the-field character concerns that saw him fall.
Right before the NFL Combine, Carter was revealed as being involved in the car accident that took the lives of Chandler LeCroy and Devin Willock. Carter would later plead no contest to charges of reckless driving and racing. He is said to be dealing with psychological challenges and a source tells us that "immaturity'' was already a concern before the accident.
Still, the Eagles' selection of Carter only adds to an already strong defensive line that also includes veteran likes Haason Reddick and Fletcher Cox, whom the Cowboys will play twice a year. ... with Cowboys Nation maybe cringing through it all.
