Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Marcus Spears Concerned Dallas Lacks Faith In QB

ESPN analyst Marcus Spears is concerned the Dallas Cowboys don't have full faith in quarterback Dak Prescott.

There have been a lot of mixed opinions surrounding Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott from fans and analysts alike, but ESPN analyst Marcus Spears is wondering if the team itself does not have faith in its signal-caller.

Spears, just one day after linebacker Micah Parsons called out the media for its treatment of Prescott, gave his opinion during an appearance on "Get Up" on how he actually sees the Cowboys' mindset potentially reflected in their play-calling.

"I didn't like it. I thought he could have been aggressive at least one more time toward the end zone," Spears said of the way the Cowboys ended out the first half of their 20-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, opting to led the clock run down in order to kick a field goal rather than trying for a TD.

"In Mike McCarthy's defense, he can come to the podium and say 'Hey guys, we won by three'... But the bottom line is that the sentiment outside of that organization and that locker room is probably, 'Why don't you trust Dak ...?

Penalties were also an issue for the Cowboys during the close contest, something Spears noted, but he also sees a clear message through McCarthy's actions.

"All of those things are taken into context when you're making that decision," Spears said. "But, at the end of that day, it does make it look like you don't trust your quarterback in that situation, especially when you play in an offense with that type of firepower and the potential to score a touchdown."

Prescott finished the contest 21-of-30 passing for 272 yards with one touchdown.

To say the Cowboys don't have faith in Prescott is a direct contradiction of what owner Jerry Jones said earlier in the month, indicating he thought the former Mississippi State signal-caller could lead them to the Promised Land.

"Dak Prescott is a quarterback that can get us to the Super Bowl," Jones said during one of his weekly calls to 105.3 The Fan. "That's the way that's gonna be... I want to be real clear: Dak is very capable of taking this team where we want it to go."

Will the Cowboys take a more aggressive approach with Prescott and the passing game when they move into their next contest against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday? Maybe they will ... if they have "faith'' in him.
