Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Will Win Super Bowl, Predicts Jerry Jones
ORLANDO - Dak Prescott has yet to win a Super Bowl, which actually puts him in pretty good company ... which is very much the point of Jerry Jones endorsing the Dallas Cowboys QB has being Super Bowl-capable.
"I think there are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven't won a Super Bowl that will win a Super Bowl," Cowboys owner Jones said here in Orlando on Sunday at the NFL Owners Meetings. "I think Dak is one of them.''
Those notable current NFL quarterbacks who are highly-thought-of but who have yet to win a Super Bowl? Again, it's quite a list. Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins, Jalen Hurts ... and more. And Dak.
Cowboys fans of course have a reason to wonder when (if) Jerry Jones will put his fat wallet where his confident mouth is. Because if he is predicting that Prescott will lead this franchise to a Super Bowl win soon. ... there's not much reason - especially considering the $20 million of cap room that will be made available with a planned extension - to drag feet when it comes to a new deal.
But those feet are dragging, maybe toward a $60 million APY deal, or maybe even (See "Blow It Up!') to Dak playing out the season as a lame duck and then being eligible for free agency a year from now.
The Cowboys of course blew a golden opportunity to end the 2023 season. They thought they had a Super Bowl-caliber team - and so did even their harshest critics. But Dallas was upset in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs, losing at home to Jordan Love and the Packers.
Right now, the Dallas vibes are not very positive ... and maybe, frankly, that's one of the reasons for Jerry's grand pronouncement.
"I think Dak is one of them,'' Jerry insisted on the subject of a Super Bowl coming to his QB. "I'm firm there. He's one of the ones who can."
