Dak Prescott & Cowboys Offense: Improved Enough to Be NFL Best?

With the additions of Brandin Cooks and Luke Schoonmaker this offseason, can the Dallas Cowboys pose an elite offense once again?

The Dallas Cowboys anticipate a much-improved offense heading into this season.

Despite losing Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz to free agency and releasing longtime running back Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas still heads into regular season with immense expectations.

That belief plays in part to the Cowboys posting a top-five scoring unit last year, despite quarterback Dak Prescott tossing a career-worst 15 interceptions. And with much-needed depth at wide receiver, Dallas addressed this hole by trading for veteran pass-catcher Brandin Cooks.

Bleacher Report recently ranked its top NFL offenses heading into this season, with the Cowboys coming in at the No. 5 spot.

"The most exciting addition to the group is Brandin Cooks," Bleacher Report writes. "The Cowboys missed Amari Cooper as a receiver who could take some pressure off Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. After Prescott threw a career-high 15 interceptions, it became clear they needed more at receiver than Lamb and Michael Gallup.

"Now they have Cooks, who has secondary-shifting speed and should be a force multiplier in the passing game."

After losing Schultz to the Houston Texans, Dallas drafted Luke Schoonmaker in the second round of the NFL Draft, who will join a deep and talented tight end room.

"The Cowboys will likely be able to replace [Schultz's] production with a three-pronged group of young guys in Jake Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot and second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker," Bleacher Report writes.

With Elliott's departure, Tony Pollard heads into the year as the Cowboys featured back behind an experienced and dominant offensive line. However, dealing with numerous injuries last season - including Tyron Smith missing 13 games - the unit first needs to get healthy before Week 1.

"An offensive line that could compete to be the best in football brings it all together," Bleacher Report writes. "If Tyron Smith can stay healthy, it would allow them to move Tyler Smith to play left guard, giving them a great starting five of both Smiths, Tyler Biadasz, Zack Martin and Terence Steele."

As no stranger to adversity a season ago, Dallas looks to improve upon its offensive output with an improved and healthy roster next season.
