Dallas Cowboys Rivals Eagles & 49ers Both Lose; NFC Playoff Race Tightens
The San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles, both heavy favorites in their Week 6 games, spent Sunday learning a lesson that the Dallas Cowboys already knew …
Nobody’s perfect.
The Eagles flopped in the second half and dropped their first game of the season in a 20-14 loss to the Jets, who scored 17 unanswered points for the win. The victory just happened to mark the Jets' first-ever win over the Eagles, as they had been 0-12 all-time against Philadelphia headed into Sunday.
An elite New York defense held the Eagles scoreless in the second half and forced four turnovers, three of which were interceptions from Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts.
'We're A Great Defense!' Cowboys Proclaim
And the Niners? They missed a late field goal at Cleveland and lost 19-17, with QB Brock Purdy struggling against the stiff Browns defense,
Parity is the theme here, even though admittedly it did not seem that way last Sunday night when Dallas lost at San Francisco by a lopsided score of 42-10.
The Cowboys are 3-2 and still chasing the Eagles in the NFC East and the 49ers in the NFC at large; both of those clubs are now 5-1.
Is Dallas good enough to catch them? That question begins to be answered on “Monday Night Football” as the Cowboys play at the Los Angeles Chargers.
But are the Eagles and the Niners vulnerable as the NFL path to the playoffs continues? The underdog Browns and the underdog Jets just did the Cowboys a favor by answering that question with great clarity.
