Cowboys SCOOP: Jets Trade Offer for WR Denzel Mims

BREAKING: The Cowboys are talking trade with the New York Jets regarding receiver Denzel Mims, with an NFL source telling CowboysSI.com that “this should be a no-brainer” for Dallas.

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have taken a phone call from the New York Jets regarding the availability of fourth-year receiver Denzel Mims, with an NFL source telling CowboysSI.com that “this should be a no-brainer” for Dallas.

And why? A second source tells us the New York asking price might be as low as “a conditional seventh-round pick” - meaning that if the Baylor product Mims makes the team/contributes, the Cowboys give up a last-round pick.

And if Mims, 24, doesn’t make an impact in Dallas? The Cowboys sacrifice nothing.

The Jets have worked to move off of Mims even before they traded for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But now it seems they will either trade or cut him.

The Cowboys’ top of the depth chart at receiver is loaded with CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup. But all the talent that made the Texas native Mims attractive to the Jets in his 2020 NFL Draft (and the Cowboys scouting department liked him as well) remain in place.

Mims will finish his stint with the Jets having played in 30 games with 42 receptions for 676 yards and no touchdowns. But if the Cowboys - who have flirted with this idea before - see this move as a “no-brainer”?

The 6-3 Mims, who ran a sizzling 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the 2020 Scouting Combine, could get a new stint in Dallas … risk-free for the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys.
