Cowboys Sign 2-Time Super Bowl Champ RB Ronald Jones
The Dallas Cowboys have lost Ezekiel Elliott but have added some championship expertise to their running backs room.
CowboySI.com has confirmed that Ronald Jones II is set to join America's Team on a free agent deal, arriving after five seasons between Tampa Bay and Kansas City. Jones, 25, earned a Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this calendar year, two years after helping deny them one as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Over the past five seasons, Jones has established himself as a threat both through the air and on the ground, amassing 2,837 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns. Though Jones' postseason service was limited in the Chiefs' run to Glendale last February, he picked up 139 yards in three games for the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers, including 61 on 12 carries in the championship triumph at home in Tampa. In that regular season, Jones put up a career-best 978 yards and seven scores, one of which was a 98-yard tally.
Jones, who played high school ball in McKinney, is now set to serve as a spell option for 2022-23 breakout Tony Pollard, who re-joined the Cowboys on a franchise tag earlier this offseason. Dallas has also brought back preseason darling Rico Dowdle, that signing revealed earlier on Tuesday.
