Cowboys Ranked Outside NFL Top 10 in Skill Players; How?!

The Dallas Cowboys, led by CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard, have a grossly underrated skill position group in 2023.

The Dallas Cowboys have options galore on offense. From CeeDee Lamb to Tony Pollard, quarterback Dak Prescott is blessed with riches. Even with the loss of Ezekiel Elliott and Dalton Schultz, the organization is seemingly in a strong place offensively.

But none of that matters, according to some members of the Around the NFL podcastper SBNation. When ranking the best skill positions in the NFL, two of the four hosts, Dan Hanzus and Gregg Rosenthal, put the Cowboys at 14th and 15th in the league, respectively.

With the core Dallas already has returning, this feels like an undersell ... to say the least.

"What’s more is that Dallas added another explosive playmaker in Brandin Cooks and that they moved on from one who has (no disrespect intended here) lacked explosiveness for some time now in Ezekiel Elliott," SBNation added in a reaction piece.

While analysts Marc Sessler and Bill Barnwell slated the Cowboys at sixth and seventh, respectively - which is much more credible - Hanzus and Rosenthal had a collection of puzzling teams ranked ahead of Dallas.

While the Eagles, Bengals and 49ers make sense high up on the list, the Jets, Jaguars and Browns all made appearances before the Cowboys in the rankings. Stunning.

"There is some acknowledged unknown that Dallas is dealing with here in 2023, but they have one of the best ... receivers in the game, a top ... running back and fresh players that should help the group even more," SBNation concluded.

With the array of talent the Cowboys will put on the field this fall, finishing outside of the top 10 in terms of skill position performance would come as a surprise. And right now it stands as an odd insult.
