Bayless Rips Cowboys On Fake ‘Rule,’ Gets Shamed by Co-Hosts

Skip Bayless is back at it again, taking aim at Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (and at Dak Prescott) for giving praise to "arch-rival" San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

FRISCO —  Quarterback Tom Brady was praised throughout his entire career for the hard work, dedication and success he had on the football field, and no one questioned it.

Brock Purdy is in a similar situation to Brady at the beginning of his career — passed on in the draft, took over after an injury to the starter and had overwhelming immediate success. But now, Micah Parsons' praise of Purdy is getting questioned by none other than Skip Bayless, who said the Dallas Cowboys linebacker shouldn't be giving the second-year quarterback his flowers because the 49ers eliminated Dallas in each of the last two playoffs. ...

A transparently stupid hot take that caused his NFL-veteran co-hosts to scoff at his blow-hard ignorance.

"You play for the Cowboys, whose quarterback is Dak Prescott, who is on a hot seat in Dallas right now," Bayless said on "Undisputed" Wednesday. "There’s an unwritten rule here, a locker room rule here, that you don’t rave about the quarterback of your arch-rival and nemesis. You just don’t do it. If I'm Dak Prescott, I don't like it.”

Bayless' co-hosts Keyshawn Johnson and Richard Sherman — two players who have both actually played in the NFL — were quick to call out how ludicrous of a statement his argument was.

"Who wrote that rule?" Johnson said, well-aware that Bayless is again simply making things up in order to seem "controversial.''

With the violence, athleticism and mental capacity needed to play football, at the quarterback position, and elsewhere, it is of course commonplace for foes to praise one another. Parsons giving credit where credit is due is not something that reflects badly on Parsons, or on Prescott. ... and of course to knowing Cowboys fans, Bayless' hatred directed at honorable figures like Tom Landry, Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott is how he earns his paycheck.

These hot-button takes are all the norm for Bayless, so in terms of FS1 working to achieve any credibility? It's a good thing Johnson and Sherman are there to set him straight. ... though we suspect it might not take long for them to follow the lead of Shannon Sharpe, who took the opportunity to work alongside Bayless and did so as long as he could bear it before orchestrating a professional divorce from this junk merchant.
