Dallas Cowboys 'Spoiled' By Play Of Tyron Smith & Tyler Smith, Says Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys' offensive line play hasn't been perfect this season, but by and large, their line has been one of the better ones in the NFL.

Specifically, the left side of the line has been one of Dallas' greatest strengths. On the outside, there's seasoned veteran Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection who has been a star up front for over a decade.

To QB Dak Prescott, there's no one he'd rather have protecting his blind side.

"One of the best tackles to play this game. ... Throughout my career, when he's available, you don't have to worry about that side of the ball," Dak said. "Thankful for him. ... I'm spoiled in that sense. ... When you have a guy who has been one of the best, if not the best, as his position for over 10 years now."

Right beside Tyron Smith is left guard Tyler Smith (no relation), a 2022 first-round pick who has quickly cemented as a fixture of the offensive line. Tyler Smith has been one of the best guards in the entire league this season, with his 79.1 PFF grade ranking third among his position. Of course, it helps that the elders Smith is right by his side to help guide him.

"I think he is very comfortable now at guard," coach Mike McCarthy said Monday. "I thought our left side had their best performance [at the Eagles in Week 9] since I've been here [since 2020]. Both of those two guys will hopefully play a lot of football together."

For as good as this duo has been, the two Smith's haven't been able to play together as much as they'd like. Tyron Smith has been limited to only nine games since the start of last season due to injury, and for most of last year, it was Tyler Smith filling in for him. The younger Smith has also missed a pair of games this season.

Now that both players are together, though, they've easily locked down the all-important left side of the line.

"The cool thing talking to Tyron is how excited he is to be working next to a Tyler Smith because those two guys together are obviously a very formidable duo," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Monday. "He was excited about that, but if you think about it, they haven't played a whole lot together. We're thrilled to be able to keep building on that movement this week.
