Stephon Gilmore Reveals Dallas Cowboys Message After Loss at 49ers: 'Watch The Tape!'
It was billed as a heavyweight fight, and the Dallas Cowboys showed they weren't in the same weight class as the San Francisco 49ers, with coach Kyle Shanahan's team dishing out an embarrassing 42-10 hiding to coach Mike McCarthy's bunch.
Such a performance can cause the coaching staff and locker room to question everything that has been done from training camp up until now. So what's the way forward?
Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore offered insight into what the locker room needs to do to move past what was a demoralizing loss against a team they thought they could beat.
“Just watch the tape, get better,” Gilmore said. “Be hard on yourself and go from there. We didn’t play good football. It’s one game; they beat us pretty bad. Start from square one again.”
For now, the Cowboys have no business talking about Super Bowl contention, as attention turns to fixing a whole number of issues that the 49ers shined a light on.
With the offense offering nothing aside from one 13-play, 78-yard touchdown drive and the much-vaunted defense giving up 421 yards of total offense that included 170 yards on the ground against coordinator Dan Quinn's defense, Dallas' credibility as a Super Bowl team took a substantial hit.
All the question marks surrounding this Cowboys team, the coaching staff, and players are more than valid after what was dished up at Levi's Stadium. Until Dallas proves otherwise, they are to many disqualified from any Super Bowl or "Doomsday'' talk until further notice. ... and they are to Gilmore required to "be hard on themselves.''
