Dallas Cowboys 'Texas Coast Offense': 'A Ton of Confidence!' Says Coach In Prepping for Philadelphia Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys' "Texas Coast Offense'' has been hitting top gear since that fateful Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. With Dak Prescott playing MVP-level football, CeeDee Lamb in All-Pro form, and the offensive line getting some continuity, things are going swimmingly.

Against the Seattle Seahawks, a game in which the Cowboys won 41-35 in a shootout, it was the first time in this six-game stretch that Dallas was really challenged.

The Seahawks went punch-for-punch with the Cowboys, and in fact, were leading at halftime.

For offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, the mood inside the locker room was one of resolve, and also hinted that winning the close games - like the one that might be looming on "Sunday Night Football'' this week with the Philadelphia Eagles coming to town - will benefit the unit going forward.

“Our guys were very steely-eyed at halftime the last game,” Schottenheimer said. “That will benefit us moving forward for the rest of the season just knowing that we're not going to beat everybody by scoring 40 points and winning 40 to whatever it's going to be some knockdown drag-out games, and that's what you love about this league.”

The Cowboys currently have the first-ranked offense for points scored per game (32.2) as the "Texas Coast Offense" has been lighting up teams. Since Week 5, the offense hasn't had under 300 total yards of offense and has gone over 400 total yards in their last two games.

Now, it wasn't always like that, as we all remember what the offense was like prior to the 49ers game (good enough). ... and then in the 49ers game (not good enough).

What has been the catalyst for the dramatic change in how the offense has gone from being rather disjointed at times to now being the league's best?

“The overall execution has been very consistent over the last couple weeks,” Schottenheimer said. “Our guys are playing with a ton of confidence right now.''
