Tony Pollard Cowboys Injuries are 'Career-Threatening': Skip Bayless' Outrageous Report

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard rushed for 1,007 yards, nine touchdowns and 5.2 per carry in 2022. But Skip Bayless outrageously sees a looming problem.

When Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard exited last season's Divisional Round loss it was clear the offense suffered. Owner Jerry Jones even went as far to say "that was the turning point of the game for us."

Pollard, who fractured his fibula and suffered a high ankle injury in the first half of the playoff loss, racked up 33 all purpose yards prior to the injury.

Over the remaining 30 minutes, former Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott would take over rushing duties, mustering up a mere 26 yards on the ground for an offense that reached the end zone just twice.

Since that playoff loss occurred, Elliott is no longer a Cowboy and Pollard was signed to a $10.09 franchise tag to stick around in Dallas for at least another season.

However, FS1's "Undisputed'' host Skip Bayless believes these two running backs have a lot more in common than people believe - and is outrageously suggesting that Pollard's injuries are "career-threatening.''

"You know what happened to Zeke once he lost a little bit of burst," Bayless said. "Did he not look shockingly average to you over the last three years? Is it possible Tony Pollard ...(will start) looking a little more ordinary because he doesn't quite have his (stuff) back?''

Bayless, who Dallas fans know is more of a Cowboys "troll'' than he is a Cowboys "fan,'' seems to be reaching here. What does Elliott's decline as a seven-year heavy-lifter approaching age 28 have to do with the 25-year-old Pollard, who has largely spent four years as Zeke's non-heavy-lifting caddie?

For Pollard, the injury suffered in the Divisional Round has been just his second over his four year career, with the first being a knee injury in 2019'S Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills that kept him out one game.

"Obviously, Tony Pollard is coming off (injuries that) could be career-threatening," Bayless said.

Wait. What?

CowboysSI.com has reported that Dallas believes that not only will Pollard return to form, but that he might be ready to participate at some level in OTAs following a recovery period of a few months following his late-January procedure. But even if that prognosis is slightly optimistic, there is no reason to believe Pollard will be anything but ready to go for 2023.

There is meanwhile no reason to report that Pollard is in some sort of "crisis'' situation ... unless of course the purpose is to simply trick and troll a TV audience.
