Cowboys Wild Idea: Trade Dak Prescott & Micah Parsons, Draft QB Caleb Williams with No. 1 Pick?

Dallas Cowboys Trade Micah Parsons for USC QB Caleb Williams? Chicago Bears Media Proposal

FRISCO - Micah Parsons is the sort of player teams should be trading for, not trading away, we always say. But that doesn't mean we can't have some fun with some Dallas Cowboys hypotheticals ...

And the idea of forging a trade with the Chicago Bears to Parsons goes ghere and Dallas gets the No. 1 pick to use on USC star quarterback Caleb Williams is ...

Fun!

“If you were Dallas though, would you take the No. 1 (pick) for Micah and a chance to pick Caleb Williams?” our 105.3 The Fan buddy Bobby Belt asked on the “Love of the Star” podcast.

Some of the issues raised in this thought experiment ...

*Would the Bears would make this deal knowing that Parsons is about to demand $30 million APY? Isn't Chicago the team that traded Roquon Smith to the Ravens because they didn't want to pay up?

*Would Chicago pass on Caleb Williams (or whichever QB they thought worthy of the No. 1) because they already have a recent first-round QB in Justin Fields? We know there is gossip about them trading Fields; do they replace Fields with Williams just because the rookie contract in length is cheater than Fields'?

*And the big one from a Dallas perspective: Hoorah. You've given up the NFL's best defensive player for a QB you hope is "the next Patrick Mahomes'' (that part sounds fine) ... but what do you with that other QB?

You know, Dak Prescott. Remember him?

Dak Prescott New Contract: Does Jerry Not Understand the Cap?

There are those who think Dallas would simply trade Prescott, but that still comes with a huge cap burden for the near future.

Bottom line: If your scouting department promises you that QB X really is "the next Mahomes,'' you move heaven and earth to acquire him. Unfortunately, we're betting that Dallas personnel boss Will McClay can't quite make that promise ...

Leaving this conversation in a good spot: A "fun'' thought experiment.
