Cowboys vs. Falcons: Bill Belichick ‘More Attractive Job’?

Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons: Coach Bill Belichick ‘More Attractive Job’?

FRISCO - Are Jerry Jones and Arthur Blank about to get in a “yacht-measuring contest?

This weekend, an NFL source suggested to us that the legendary Patriots boss, having said his goodbyes to New England after 24 years and six Super Bowl titles there, is demonstrating an attraction to the idea of coming to Atlanta and taking over the Falcons as a show.

"I just wonder if (Belichick) is using the Falcons for leverage," the source told us.

“Leverage” involving whom? Rumors of course suggest that would be Jerry and his Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys have a roster that’s won 12 games with a playoff berth in each of the last three seasons. But that success isn’t enough for coach Mike McCarthy to avoid hard questions from Jones in the wake of Sunday’s 48-32 playoff loss to Green Bay.

The Falcons are not a perennial playoff team but have a roster many think is “on the verge.” And indeed coach Arthur Smith was just fired for falling short of those expections.

We know Atlanta is serious about this pursuit, complete with a story of Belichick being invited to a meeting aboard Blank’s yacht.

Cowboys Are 'A Football Disaster!' Fire McCarthy? Hire Belichick? Jerry Can't Ignore Playoff Debacle

We don’t yet fully know Jones’ position on all of this. And we don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves.

But we do know Jerry can offer the “America’s Team” and whole “power” is an issue, money is no object … and yes, Jerry owns a yacht.
