Cowboys vs. Eagles on Saquon Signing? One Team is ‘Serious’ on Giants Free Agent
FRISCO - We are warning Dallas Cowboys fans who are buying into the wobbly idea that “America’s Team” is prepared to win a bidding war for the best free agent running back on the market.
And now that it seems the Philadelphia Eagles are “serious” about a chase for Saquon Barkley?
Cowboys Nation may be in for a double disappointment..
With NFL Network's respected Tom Pelissero telling us on Monday, as the free agency tampering window opens, to "keep an eye'' on the New York Giants star "coming home'' to Philly. … we have real credibility here … even though it would break the mold on the Eagles’ usual choices.
Meanwhile, there has been lots of gossip about Barkley and the Cowboys … but we’ve long downplayed it - because it too doesn’t fit Dallas’ usual choices.
Barkley, who just turned 27, could give the Eagles a "hometown discount” as he grew up in Philly. Or, he gets his $12 million per year or thereabouts.
There are other Dallas candidates who will come more affordably - maybe led by a re-signing of Tony Pollard (no that plan could go up and smoke as the Tennessee Titans are apparently closing in on Pollard.). And Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler are on the board, too.
Derrick Henry ‘Just Bought a House in Dallas’? Truth Behind Rumor
But the idea of the Eagles and Saquon? Meaning not only does Dallas not get him … but that he joins an archrival who will challenge the Cowboys twice a year in the NFC East? That would be double the damage for Dallas.
