Cowboys vs. Jaguars Preseason: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Dallas Cowboys host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday afternoon to kick off each team's first of three exhibition games this preseason. Dallas is coming off its second-consecutive 12-win season and a second-place finish in the NFC East. But a second postseason loss in a row to the San Francisco 49ers ended the Cowboys' playoff run prematurely.
Jacksonville surprised many in 2022 and made the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Former Clemson signal-caller and first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trevor Lawrence enters this third season and made tremendous strides under new coach Doug Pederson last season. Lawrence threw for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his first season under quarterback guru Pederson.
The Cowboys feature a revamped "Texas Coast Offense'' with former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore leaving for Los Angeles and being replaced by Brian Schottenheimer. Coach Mike McCarthy is in charge of the play-calling, and the team hopes it has a positive effect on quarterback Dak Prescott.
Dallas said goodbye to former running back Ezekiel Elliott, as Tony Pollard takes the reigns as the RB1 for the first time in his career.
Some Cowboys starters, led by Prescott, aren't expected to play in the preseason, but all eyes will be on position battles at the backup running back position and the offensive line, as well as at linebacker, and others.
