Cowboys vs. Packers 'Freak Injury' to Jaire Alexander; Last-Minute Playoff Roster Move

Dallas Cowboys vs. Packers 'Freak Injury' to Jaire Alexander Means Last-Minute Playoff Roster Move

FRISCO - The Green Bay Packers have arrived here in DFW for Sunday's NFL playoff game, checking into their area hotel at 3:15 p.m. just as North Texas temperatures are dropping.

On the trip is standout DB Jaire Alexander, though after suffering what the Packers are calling a "freak injury'' to his ankle in practice this week, he is listed as "questionable'' ...

So Green Bay is adding some insurance for the playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Packers are elevating cornerback David Long Jr. from their practice squad to the active roster. Long is a journeyman of sorts - he's played for three different teams just this season alone - but the Packers may need reinforcements to stick with Dallas receiver CeeDee Lamb and company.

'No More Playoff Scars!' CeeDee Lamb Reveals Mindset for Packers

Long actually two starts on the season. But Alexander? He's made the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams in two of the last four seasons ... though he also has developed a reputation as a knucklehead, missing some time this year not only due to injuries but also due to a suspension.

The Packers are 7-point underdogs against the Cowboys, who have won 16 straight games at AT&T Stadium.
