Cowboys WATCH: Jerry Jones Compares Wins - Tom Brady vs. Herschel Walker

Jerry Jones is "Herschel Walker-level'' proud of how his Cowboys finally found a way to beat the retiring Tom Brady.

FRISCO - How proud is Jerry Jones of finally notching that elusive win over Tom Brady in the Dallas Cowboys' playoff win in Tampa that may have played a role in the 45-year-old QB's decision this week to retire from the NFL?

Jerry is "Herschel Walker-level'' proud.

"I'm proud of that win,'' said Jones, speaking to reporters this week at the Senior Bowl. "I'm going to hold that Tampa Bay win up just like I do that Herschel Walker ball ...''

The "Herschel Walker ball''?

"When we won one game that first year (in 1989), and that was my prize," Jones explained.

Ah yes.

Jones is thinking back to his first season as team owner in 1989, when the Cowboys won a single game, 13-3 over Washington. ... in a year much more about the all-time blockbuster trade that sent Walker to Minnesota and brought back to Texas a bonanza of pieces that helped Dallas win three Super Bowls.

Some have sarcastically suggested that the Dallas owner is taking great and excessive pride in the playoff win over Brady and the Buccaneers because Dallas playoff wins have been tough to come by.

That's sort of a shame that we're ignoring a moment of Jerry humility (that 1-15 season was no treat) that is also a moment meant to honor Brady.

"We're proud of that win (in Tampa),'' said Jerry, adding an understatement. "(Brady) has been outstanding."
