Confirmed: Cowboys Will Wear "Established in 1960" Patch on 2020 Uniforms

The Dallas Cowboys NFL 2020 patch will commemorate the franchise's 60th anniversary of the team's inception.

DALLAS - "America's Team" is going retro for 2020. The Dallas Cowboys' iconic traditional uniforms are getting an addition this season - an "Established in 1960" patch, confirmed by team sources to Sports Illustrated's Mike Fisher.

The patch, worn on the front-left of the jerseys, will commemorate the franchise's 60th anniversary of the team's inception. The patch was first noted during team photo shoots, including one with with Cowboys second-round rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs.

On the franchise's 50th anniversary in 2010, the Cowboys wore an anniversary patch. Also, they honored the Tom Landry with an iconic fedora patch and wore a Texas Stadium tribute during the final game at the venue.

The Cowboys have one of the most iconic uniforms in all of the NFL. The white jerseys, royal blue stripes, numbers (including on the shoulder, a Dallas Cowboys creation to aid TV viewers), with turquoise-gray pants home combination is a beloved tradition. ... all of which in the view of the Jones family makes up a look as iconic and unchangeable as the New York Yankees' trademark pinstripes.

The "Est. 1960" patch is a very nice memorabilia tribute. ... and yes, one would think that given the Cowboys' high level of marketing mindfulness, the "1960'' patch will be made available to the public for purchase in one form or another.

It truly marks a grand way to commemorate the accomplishments of a storied franchise for the 2020 NFL season. Now, let's just hope there is a 2020 NFL season.
