Cowboys BREAKING: Saquon Barkley Signs for $37.75M with Rival Eagles
FRISCO - It is a double defeat for the Dallas Cowboys, who predictively just got out priced by a mile when it comes to the best free agent running back on the market … and now have to deal with a Philadelphia Eagles rival that is the team to win the chase for Saquon Barkley.
We told Cowboys Nation early Monday that Philly was “serious” here and that the gossip about the Cowboys was bogus.
Barkley, who just turned 27, didn’t even need to give the Eagles a "hometown discount” as he grew up in Philly. Or, he gets his $12 million per year … plus some, as this is being portrayed as a three-year contract worth $37.75 million.
There are other Dallas candidates who will come more affordably; hey, somebody is going to play running back! But even a hoped-for re-signing of Tony Pollard is out, as he is getting a three-year contract at $7 million per season to go to Tennessee.
So the Eagles and Saquon now team up … Meaning not only does Dallas not get him … but that he joins an archrival who will challenge the Cowboys twice a year in the NFC East … double the damage for Dallas.
