Game On!: Cowboys Vs. Steelers Scheduled For Hall Of Fame
FRISCO - It was supposed to be the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers to launch the 2020 NFL season in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton.
Let's try this again.
With the NFL looking forward to next season - and the hope that COVID doesn't throw the plans back in the trash can - the league has that the Steelers and Cowboys will square off in the 2021 Hall of Fame Game.
Hopefully.
The Hall of Fame Game is an annual contest meant to not only kickoff the preseason, but also to celebrate players who are about to be enshrined. The rich history of these two franchise will allow that part of the tradition, anyway, to continue.
Last year's scheduled game was going to highlight the fact that the Steelers had Bill Cowher, Donnie Shell, and Troy Polamalu all inducted into the 2020 Hall of Fame class. Meanwhile, the Cowboys would have Cliff Harris and Jimmy Johnson being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This year, Alan Faneca and Bill Nunn represent the Steelers, while Drew Pearson represents the Cowboys. ... and therefore, the weekend can be a "Cowboys and Steelers party,'' as originally intended.
This of course requires good news on the hope that the COVID-19 vaccine allows the event. The Cowboys, for instance, at this point have no solid plans regarding how their summer will go in terms of scheduling, with no certain commitment, for instance, to conduct training camp in Oxnard.
So pencil it in and cross your fingers in hopes that the Steelers vs. the Cowboys game, which is scheduled to happen on August 5, can serve as the beginning to some good news on multiple fronts.
