'Great Coach, Great Guy!' Micah Parsons Reveals True Feelings on Dallas Cowboys McCarthy

Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons has a lot of respect for boss Mike McCarthy, calling him "a great coach and a great guy.'' Here's why ...

At this point, the only Dallas Cowboys watchers who still harbor distrust or dislike when it comes to coach Mike McCarthy are trolls, contrarians or idiots.

And who is telling that to Cowboys Nation besides just me? Try Micah Parsons, who in making an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week ahead of 2-0 Dallas' Sunday visit to Arizona is calling McCarthy a “truly great coach and a great guy'' - and pinpoints a reason why any dissenters even exist anymore.

Said third-year man Parsons: “Since I first got here, he’s been a guy who has showed the utmost respect for all his players and takes care of his guys. Finds ways for us to recover, finds ways for us to get better and pushed us to the limit. And you know, he doesn’t cross boundaries. ...

"Big Mike is a truly great coach and a great guy. I would actually hate to ever see anyone like him go.''

McCarthy is of course not "going anywhere'' anytime soon ... which is also obvious, no matter how many "hot seat'' stories were written all offseason.

Parsons is on-record as also hoping defensive coordinator Dan Quinn remains at The Star long-term, and some observers have wrongly reacted by thinking the leading candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year is favoring one coach over another. That's never been the case ... and that's now more obvious than ever.

Now, about that "pinpointing'' thing ...

"He’s more nice than any other coach in the NFL,'' Parsons said. "And I think sometimes, people try to take that for granted because of how nice and genuine he is.”

Translation: McCarthy doesn't play games and he doesn't play "tough guy.'' ... and it is appreciated by players who can see right through "fake.''

Also appreciated by guys like Parsons (and, ideally, by fans and media) is the fact that Dallas is coming off back-to-back 12-win campaigns. ... so the two-seasons-plus record around here is 26-10. And while that's not "Super Bowl-level,'' yes, Micah, that is pretty "great.''
