Dak Responds to Meme Comparing Cowboys Playoff Success With Tom Brady’s; What Does This Mean?

On Monday morning, Dak Prescott resurfaced on social media by commenting “Hold my Crutches” and tagging his teammate Ezekiel Elliott on SportsCenter’s post.

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 30-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints, Tom Brady will advance to his 14th conference championship game and first NFC championship. After the win, ESPN's SportsCenter reposted a meme mocking how Brady has eclipsed the Cowboys, who have not appeared in an NFC Championship since 1997.

Yes, it's been a long time since the Cowboys were in the NFC title game. And Dak's playful response here should be taken as an indication of how hungry Prescott is to prove himself ... and to prove his Cowboys capable of postseason success.

Prescott’s contractual future, of course, remains uncertain after his season-ending ankle injury in Week 5. This led him to be replaced by Andy Dalton for the rest of the season, and the Cowboys finished 6-10 and did not make the playoffs.

What exactly will it take for Dallas to retain Prescott?

Entering the 2021 NFL season, the Cowboys once again must choose whether to tag Prescott for $38 million or offer him a longer-term APY which will likely be worth $40 million.

Prescott recently said, "I know my team needs me.''

Former Cowboys legend current FOX Sports analyst Troy Aikman wants to see a deal happen soon, telling our Mike Fisher on 105.3 The Fan: "I would sleep real good if I had Dak Prescott locked up with a big contract and not worrying about his commitment to the team and commitment to winning." 

Prescott is using social media and telling Cowboys Nation about that very commitment, which he'll be ready to begin undertaking in the spring. Once he's done with those aforementioned "crutches.''
