'I'm Not Happy!' Aaron Rodgers Reacts To Next Cowboys Foe, Playoff-Bound Lions
FRISCO - You can take Aaron Rodgers out of Green Bay. But you can't take the Packers out of Aaron Rodgers.
Or something like that.
Rodgers, who last offseason engineered his trade escape from Wisconsin in favor of the New York Jets, is obviously no fan of the Dallas Cowboys - and obviously, over the course of his four-time MVP career in Green Bay, his gifts as a Cowboys killer are legendary.
But he also spend an entire career in the NFC North slaying the Detroit Lions; his lifetime record against the usually woeful Lions is 18-8.
Now, though? He's about to watch the 11-4 Lions - who play at 10-5 Dallas on Saturday night - go barreling into the NFL playoffs as the division champ.
And he is having some fun expressing his displeasure at that.
Um, I'm not happy,'' he said on the "Pat McAfee Show. "Although I'm in New York, I still want the green and gold to take the North every year!''
In part because of the way Rodgers' Packers dominated them, up until now the Lions had never won the NFC North (created 20 years ago). They last made the playoffs in 2016.
But now? Consider this a sort of "scouting report'' for Saturday night at AT&T Stadium as Rodgers, rehabbing from injury this year and planning a triumphant Jets return in 2024, offers his thoughts on the Lions ...
'Our Biggest Challenge of the Year!' Cowboys on Lions, Tyron, Micah Updates
"They've got a good football team,'' he said. "Jared (QB Goff) has had a really nice season. Obviously (Amon-Ra) St. Brown is a fantastic receiver ... two really good backs ... The line's really good on both sides of the ball, defense has been playing good. ...
"I think the NFC's really deep.''
Rodgers is probably right about the quality of the Detroit roster. And the Cowboys - somehow favored by six points! - are probably about to find that out.
