'Marvelous!' Sleepy Jerry Cowboys 'Sugarplum' Reaction to Eagles
FRISCO - If you know Jerry Jones, you are aware that Christmas is among his favorite times of the year, as on an annual basis regales his Dallas Cowboys audience by literally uttering the phrase, "Visions of sugarplums are dancing in my head!''
Brace yourself, Cowboys Nation. If Jolly Ol' St. Jerry hasn't said it on the radio or elsewhere in public yet, he will.
And what form are those "sugarplums'' taking this week as Dallas prepares to play on Christmas Eve at the Miami Dolphins as what Jones hopes is a launching pad to postseason success for the playoff-bound 'Boys?
The first sugarplum dropped on "Monday Night Football'' in Seattle as the Seahawks somehow mounted a late-game comeback and benefited from two Jalen Hurts interceptions to upset the hated Philadelphia Eagles, thus keeping open Dallas' chances of winning the NFC East.
“It was marvelous!'' Jerry said of the outcome, speaking on 105.3 The Fan the morning after. "I watched every bit of it!''
Well, maybe almost every bit of it. The Cowboys had just returned from a night flight back from Buffalo, where they were handed coals in their stockings by the Bills in a 33-10 thrashing. And Jerry is 81; naps are allowed!
Jalen Hurts' Eagles Lose at Seahawks; Lack 'Commitment'; Cowboys Remain in 1st
"I thought I was about to doze (off),'' Jones admitted, "but then when (the Seahawks) made those (late-game) plays, I couldn’t sleep until 4 in the morning because of the impact it can have in our year.”
Dallas is presently in first place in the division with the same 10-4 record as the Eagles, who've lost three straight. Tiebreakers will end up favoring Philly down the three-game stretch to end the season. But if the Eagles falter again and Dallas does not?
It will increase the odds that the idea of "The Cowboys in the Super Bowl'' might wake up from a long winter's nap.
