'It Won't Happen Again!' Cowboys' Micah Parsons Makes Fiery Promise
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is seething over his team's fourth-quarter fadeout against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
After the Cowboys held a 14-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, Dallas lost in overtime 31-28. And Parsons has made a promise. It won't happen again.
"The Packers' [game] we learned and we grew," Parsons said this week at The Star. "It won't happen again, though. If Dak [Prescott] goes out there and gives me that lead again, I promise we ain't going to do that again."
After the Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said there was enough blame to go around. After Sunday, Parsons even looks at himself after the Cowboys' epic collapse.
"I even took a lot of accountability," Parsons said. "Maybe I even messed up … I'm trying to make a play, and I'm going to hold myself accountable to the extent. So I'll take the blame, I'll do whatever. But somebody like me, you can't expect me to do it again."
The loss will sting as Dallas did everything right and was 15 minutes away from a crucial win, not only for Mike McCarthy in his homecoming to Green Bay but for the Cowboys' playoff hopes.
Dallas' defense was lauded throughout the first five weeks of the season. It only allowed a single touchdown in each game as Dan Quinn was getting his "ass-kicking" performances, but against the Philadelphia Eagles, it came undone in the form of 20 first-half points.
The last two weeks have seen the once-"dominant" defense allow too many rushing yards and too many points. Parsons is ready to atone for Sunday's loss with the Minnesota Vikings next on the schedule.
"I'm going to just buckle my helmet up," Parsons said. "And I'm going to set edges and ball out.''
