Jalen Hurts New $255 Million Contract: What It Means for Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

The Eagles have beaten Dak Prescott’s Cowboys to the “QB Money” punch with a monster deal for Jalen Hurts.

FRISCO - The cost of the good quarterback only goes up.

And the cost is only "worth it,'' in the end, if the good quarterback helps his team to greatness.

Having already appeared in a Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles think they are onto something there

And now the Eagles have beaten the Dallas Cowboys to the “QB Money” punch.

On Monday, the Eagles and Hurts agreed to terms on a five-year, $255 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history, as first reported by NFL Network.

What does the deal, which includes $179.304 million in guarantees and a no-trade clause, have to do with Dallas?

Dak Prescott, that’s what.

The Cowboys are openly in the process of doing something similar with Prescott, who presently makes $40 million per year. An extension for Dak was to likely raise his APY while also spreading out the salary cap impact over a long term.

Dallas bosses Jerry and Stephen Jones have talked of Dak, 29  being the Dallas QB “for another 10 years” … so yeah, that sort of “long term.”

Was it going to be worth $50 million APY? Given Hurts’ deal, it will probably have to be now.

Was it going to include $179 million in guarantees? Given Hurts’ deal, it will probably have to be now.

Your move, Cowboys.

Your move, Dak.
