Micah Parsons: 'My Heart Was Going To Explode!' Dallas Cowboys Star Gets Sick, Gets Sacks in Dominant Win at Carolina Panthers
At this point, it's hard to say anything about Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons that hasn't already been said. ... though us saying that he vomited during a game - and him saying, "I'll never do that (bleep) again!'' - is pretty new.
In less than three seasons in the league, Parsons has firmly established himself as one of the greatest defensive stars in the league. The Penn State product had at least 13 sacks and each of his first two seasons to earn two All-Pro selections, and is likely on his way to a third this year. Parsons is on track to earn a massive contract extension very soon, and based on how he's started his career, it will be worth every penny.
Despite his usual dominance, Parsons was invisible on the stat sheet in the Cowboys' 49-17 victory over the New York Giants on Nov. 12. So leave it to him to rebound with one of the best games of his career in Sunday's 33-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. ... even though he created for himself an upset tummy.
“I got some water to help put it down,'' Parsons said of having swallowed an energy drink that apparently didn't agree with him. "By the fifth play it felt like my heart was gonna jump outta my chest. I felt like I was about to explode. I’m never doing that (bleep) again.”
On a day where the Cowboys dominated throughout, Parsons was easily the biggest star of the show. The superstar pass-rusher had six total tackles and 2.5 sacks, matching a career-high. He was originally credited with three sacks, but the third was later split between him and safety Jayron Kearse.
Parsons, who has a well-known for his fondness of Lions, was firmly the best big cat on the field against an entire team of them.
With another monster performance under his belt, Parsons' only strengthened his already impressive case for Defensive Player of the Year. According to Sports Betting Dime, Parsons entered this game with the third-best odds to win the award at +245, trailing only fellow pass-rushers in Myles Garrett (+140) and T.J. Watt. (+215). Now, it's safe to say he at least narrowed that gap substantially.
Regardless of what the odds say exactly, the NFL certainly heard Parsons' roar on Sunday, just in case it had forgotten after a quiet week. ... even though in between the roars, the "Lion-backer'' had to puke.
