Micah Parsons Reacts to Jerry's 'All In' Promise: Cowboys 'Didn't Do That' Last Year
FRISCO - There is a risk in misinterpreting Micah Parsons' message here, and we have no interest in being needlessly inflammatory here. But ...
It does seem that the Dallas Cowboys star, having heard team owner Jerry Jones' fresh promise to go "all-in'' for 2024, is suggesting that the front office did something less than that in its 2023 championship pursuit.
"Sitting here and they're talking about, 'We're going all-in this year.' Man, that's what I would hope for," Parsons said on his podcast, The Edge. "I hope that we go all-in. I hope that we go out and get the players that we're missing because we didn't do that this year.''
Is it possible that when Parsons says "we didn't do that this year'' he simply means that "the team didn't do enough'' to beat the Packers in the playoffs? In the interest of fairness - and aware that Parsons' family stands at the ready to scream that the "Lion-backer'' has been "misquoted'' ...
But "I hope that we go out and get the players that we're missing because we didn't do that this year'' certainly comes across as a criticism of the front office's roster-building efforts.
Regarding the blowout playoff loss to Green Bay - and clearly responding to the "selfish'' charge leveled by ex Cowboys receiver Jesse Holley - Parsons said he has "no regrets'' about his efforts.
Micah is Cowboys' 'Most Selfish Player'? Parsons Reacts
"I'm at complete peace,'' Parsons said. "I don't think I could've done any more to win that game. ... I have no regrets about how I performed or what I put in the game.''
At the same time, Parsons said he is "embarrassed'' by the way the season ended.
"It's sad, man, that you lose the way you do," Parsons said. "Especially at home. ... To go out like that at home was completely embarrassing and unacceptable. ... It took me a while to even be able to show my face in public. I disappeared like completely."
Parsons is back in public now, via his podcast. ... ready for his personal "all-in'' for 2024. And as for the rest of the organization?
"I hope that we challenge ourselves, become better and become greater,'' Parsons said.
