Micah Parsons 'Tired of Learning & Growing' - Plans to 'Dominate!' for Cowboys in NFL Playoffs

Micah Parsons 'Tired of Learning & Growing' - Plans to 'Dominate!' for Dallas Cowboys in NFL Playoffs

FRISCO - Micah Parsons, the third-year NFL standout who is heading to his third straight Pro Bowl and his third straight postseason? He has learned a lot. He has grown a lot. And ...

"I’m tired of learning and growing,'' the Dallas Cowboys "Lion-backer'' said. "It should just be about dominating and playing great football.”

In the mind of Parsons, part of that "great football'' might be manifested in a notable success this week at Washington, where the 11-5 Cowboys face a "must-win'' if they wish to grab the No. 2 seed in the NFC Playoffs, and the chance at two home games that goes with that.

Parsons, with this one game to do, has 13 sacks. Sound familiar? He had 13 sacks in his rookie year and 13.5 last season. He’s not pleased with that number.

“At this point,'' he said of breaking through that ceiling, "it’s by any means necessary. I might jump offsides twice this week. Something has to change. Something. It’s coming. It’s coming for sure.”

We're not sure "jumping offsides'' accomplishes anything. But we do acknowledge that Parsons' talent can make him a 20-sack guy ... and that in Washington and beyond, he might be the No. 1 defender in the NFL in terms of who opposing coaches must game-plan for.

In the last five games - the Cowboys and Parsons himself will argue that this next number of ref-related - has only 1.5 sacks. If you believe in "The Due Theory''? Yes, Parsons is "due.''

He is also desirous of winning NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. In his first two NFL seasons, he finished second in the voting, both times. Is busting through that ceiling as important as beating Washington?

Of course not. But can all of these successes - sacks, awards and wins - go hand-in-hand? Is this the year for the DPOY breakthrough?

“I don’t know,” Parsons said. “I think I put up a good fight against some great guys across the league. I think it’s going to be a good battle.''

But that comes only after Dallas "battles'' its way over the 4-12 Commanders.

“Hopefully, we just go out there and win,” Parsons said. “I feel like confidence at this point, it shouldn’t be about confidence. Everyone should just go out and do their job. This is your job. We are a team. We need to go out there and play together, be as one. ... It should just be about dominating and playing great football.”
